Position Description

Responds to calls into the Emergency Communications Center (ECC), from referring physicians, AUMC physicians, pre-hospital (EMS) providers, and other medical personnel in an efficient and customer-oriented manner; and to assist in communications and coordination of emergency patient referrals and transportation, both entering and in some circumstances, leaving our hospital. The secondary responsibility of this position includes but is not limited to the facilitation of communications within the Emergency Department and with consulting physicians, communicating via radio with helicopters, transport teams, and ambulances; including receiving patient information, completing documentation, and directing calls appropriately based on predetermined criteria.

Position Requirements

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization and 1 year(s) or more of experience in healthcare professionals. Familiar with professional jargon used by EMS professionals, and aircraft pilots. Experience operating two-way radio equipment. Georgia EMT (Advanced, Intermediate, or Paramedic) or National Registry of EMTs.

Preferred Requirements

Vocational or technical training or degree. EMS dispatch or 911 training. ACLS and PALS Certification
