DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is required to be On-Site The Manager, Reliability Engineering directs NERC and PJM Certified System Operators in the activities necessary to support the Reliability Engineer and NERC Reliability Coordinator duties and assists PJM Dispatch in the reliable and efficient operations of the PJM RTO. The Manager ensures that the Reliability Engineering team performs appropriate day-ahead and real-time analysis, including coordination with neighboring ISOs, Reliability Coordinators, Transmission Operators, and Balancing Authorities to ensure that planned and unplanned conditions are managed in a manner that is consistent with NERC and Regional Entity Standards, RC Joint Operating Agreements, Operating Procedures, and PJM manuals. The Manager works as a member of the System Operations leadership team to develop operating procedures, operating strategies and detailed work plans to assure the reliable, efficient, and coordinated operation of the PJM Interconnection. The Manager ensures that the appropriate level of situational awareness is maintained for all control room personnel and works with other support teams within System Operations, Operations Planning and Operations Engineering Support to ensure that models and operational applications are maintained and enhanced as required. The Manager works closely with PJM Transmission and Generation Owners as well as external Reliability Coordinators.

Essential Functions: * Provide leadership to the Reliability Engineering team including recruitment, training and performance evaluation for team personnel. * Ensure staff perform NERC Reliability Coordinator functions as defined by the appropriate NERC and Regional Entity Standards, RC Joint Operating Agreements, Joint Operating Procedures and PJM Manuals. * Coordinate grid operating issues with other Regions, including market-to-market re-dispatch and NERC Transmission Loading Relief procedures. * Ensure IROL and SOL Limits are not violated. * Actively participate in the NERC and Reliability Coordinator Hotline discussions, assist in the assessment of security of the Regions and the overall interconnected system, and coordinate actions in anticipated or actual emergencies. * Disseminate information within the Reliability Area in a timely manner. * Perform system frequency analysis and direct the resolution of significant frequency errors, deviations, and real-time trends. * Share with other Reliability Coordinators any information regarding potential, expected, or actual critical operating conditions that could negatively affect other Reliability Areas via NERC RCIS or NERC Hot-Line. * Identify sources of large Area Control Error (ACE) deviations; discuss (or direct) corrective action. * Determine availability/shortage of operating reserves needed to maintain reliability and issue NERC EEA levels as warranted. * Assist the Control Area operators in re-establishing normal system configuration as requested and coordinate communications as required in controlling islanding within the prescribed timelines. * Serve as the primary contact for disseminating information to neighboring Reliability Coordinators and Control Areas not immediately involved in system restoration activities. * Participate in PJM's Daily Review Team and Detailed Analysis Team to evaluate the effectiveness of PJM operation. * Assist PJM management in maintaining compliance with NERC and Regional Entity Standards. * Represent PJM at various PJM Committees, Subcommittees and Working Groups. * Represent PJM at industry groups as required.

Characteristics & Qualifications: Required: * BS degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent work experience Control Room experience as a Reliability Engineer * At least 5 years of work experience * 2+ years of leadership experience in a managerial/supervisory role.

Preferred * MBA degree in Busine s Administration * 5-10 years of leadership experience in a managerial/supervisory role. * Ability and desire to build relationships and interact with a wide range of stakeholders and staff to maintain and enhance PJM's customer service reputation * Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
