POSITION DESCRIPTION

Overall summary of the position:

The Commercial Analyst role is the lead financial Business Partner to the Customer Development Team (CDT) based in the Auckland office and working with teams across New Zealand & South Pacific Region. The role champions the commercial team, providing project leadership,analytics and insights, training, review and support to the CD Team as well as accrual management, budget and forecast reviews along with month end closures. Your commercial skill and financial accounting background sets you apart in the market. Deep dives and reviews along with skilled business reporting and sound recommendations ensure integrity of information data across various Colgate systems (Atlas, Google, SAP) and quicker decision making providing key insights and ultimately Revenue Growth execution as part of the wider NZ team.

Key Responsibilities

Monthly commercial discipline:

● Attendance and participation in Account planning reviews. Identify exception bundles by customer for review and discussion

● Prepare and present a total company financial overview at sales review meetings (CGIM). Identify and assist with resolution of gaps and issues by the customer.

● Prepare and present a total company financial overview at monthly leadership meetings (LAM)

● Monthly analysis on Gross to Nett Sales, activity and product performance, preparing commentary on mix, margin and volume.

Financial Accounting Responsibilities

Period End Close

❖ Prepare Product level analysis against forecast, gross to nett & margin commentary

❖ Support Corporate reporting and commentary

❖ Rebate management and commercial support, translated to final close review in compliance to policy and accounting standards

❖ Prepare/Support Accrual Reconciliations leading the age profile and upholding policy and accounting standards

❖ Process owner for month end closures (trade spend interpretation/analysis, query handling on sales and Gross to Nett & margin

❖ Month end Reporting

Annual Rhythms

❖ Prepare Product level analysis against forecast, gross to nett & margin commentary

❖ Consumption, mix and Gross to Nett reviews for budget & Forecast

❖ Support annual Audit Review

❖ YOY financial analysis and commentary

● Prepare Weekly accrual report & investigate any issues/queries

Analytics & Customer Development Team (Sales) Support:

● Ownership of reports/analytical tools and training of the CDT team in getting the most out of these (e.g. Atlas reporting and Analytics, BI Analytics dashboard, bundle tracker, trend reports)

● Training: particularly for new CDT members in relevant financial concepts so they can optimally to supervise and manage their business.

● Analysis/Collaboration: Working with CDT on analysis and trouble-shooting as required – site subject matter expert for interpreting any financial information discussed in external and internal meetings, including SAP, Atlas ,Google, BI systems.

● Support FYOG and return on investment initiatives by producing timely reports focussing on over spend areas in the business. Work with CDT to highlight the opportunity areas and find solutions. Track and report on savings areas.

● Participate in RGM workshops championing the method with the CDT

❖ Prepare Product P & L’s

❖ Prepare budget exhibits

❖ Arrange system access for CDT team

● Customer interface: establishing key contacts with the Customer's Finance team. Work with the customer & CDT team to quickly resolve any disputed claims & ensure prompt resolution.

● Trading Terms & Conditions: Ensure all customers are staying in sync with agreed trading terms.

● Prepare and distribute Aged Accruals Analysis reports to CDT

● Responsible for reporting and timely review of Rebate management

● Monitor Gross to Nett (GTN) by customer banner, liaise with Country Finance Manager and General Manager NZ on final month result

Budget:

● Gain CDT input into the customer dimension of LE (Customer GtN and Net Sales growth). Work with CFM to create Budget/LE net sales and GtN in line with customer and subcategory goals and enter into the budgeting system. Each cycle has 3 reviews with tweaks/actualisation at each stage.

● Flowing through changes to budget/LE after reviews.

● Prepare roll forwards and Exhibits

● Together with CDTL, cascade the Budget Net Sales into Customer Targets by month

● Working closely with the CDT team to supervise NPD performance vs gateway goals to identify relevant actions for CDT.

Others:

● Act as CPNZ lead on various big projects eg Atlas deployment , Coop invoicing improvement, work with customers on win/win system improvements, MDM projects etc

● Analysis and modeling - advise CDT, CFM and GM on Strategic issues like DC entry terms

● Work on new and novel systems improvements eg Accrual management processes

● SGA Validation: month end checks for validity, tagging of new sub brands / work with B & P.

● Assist CFM with any other matters as the need arises.

Education/Background Required :

Qualification: Bachelor Degree, Commercial or Accounting Major

Experience: Management Accounting/Brand Analytical roles & Financial Accounting

Industry: Fast Moving Consumer Goods & Other will be considered

Other: BI tools, Google, SAP & Excel Data Management skills
