YMCA of Greater Seattle Youth Soccer Coordinator (Auburn, WA) in Auburn, Washington

Overview

HIRING RANGE: $22 - $24.20/hour

JOB LOCATION: Auburn, WA

SHIFT INFORMATION: This is a part-time role that supports our Soccer for Success program at local elementary schools in Auburn, WA (Terminal Park Elementary School, 1101 D St SE, Auburn, WA 98002). Shift needs are two weekday afternoons (currently Mondays and Wednesdays) from 3:00-5:00pm.

SUMMARY

The Youth Sports Coordinator will assist with overall program development of our youth sports programming. This includes, but not limited to, instructing classes, officiating youth sports games, and providing on-site leadership during practices and games. The Youth Sports Coordinator will also provide guidance to youth sports instructors, referees and volunteers.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists in the delivery of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities for assigned youth sports programs.

  2. Assists in conducting staff meetings and trainings.

  3. Provides guidance, leadership and direction to youth sports instructors, referees and volunteers as needed.

  4. Professionally engages with parents/guardians to provide pertinent information about their child’s experience and to promote upcoming programs.

  5. Ensures that supplies are clean and safe, set up and stored properly. Reports equipment problems to supervisor.

  6. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a part-time variable role that predominantly supports programs that occur in the afternoons/evenings and weekends.

TRAVEL

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 18 years of age or older.

  2. High school graduate or equivalent.

  3. Knowledge of sports.

  4. One or more years of experience working with children.

  5. Strong customer service skills, responding to multiple questions via phone, email and in person. Ability to problem solve and resolve conflict.

  6. Strong computer skills and experience working with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

  7. Knowledge of standard office equipment, such as fax machines, copiers, and phone systems.

  8. Current state approved first-aid certification.*

  9. Current state approved infant/child (or community if school aged) CPR certification.** At hire, or earliest possible training (but no later than 90 days after employment).

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Other applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position will be considered.

  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical activity, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
