LMI Aerospace Final Quality Inspector in Auburn, Washington

We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Final Inspector. The QA Final Inspector is responsible for inspecting and ensuring incoming product from final processing houses is compliant to quality standards as they relate to customer drawings, specifications, and other customer requirements prior to being accepted. In all actions, supports LMI’s Quality Policy, Mission Statement, and other LMI policies and procedures by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability, and respect for people.


  • Receives job from all outside processors and verifies that all certification paperwork is correct for all aspects required (i.e. correct process was performed, paint thickness is acceptable per customer requirements, temper verification by processor proves acceptable, etc.).

  • Performs first article, in-process and final inspection functions.

  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings to verify that parts are identified properly.

  • Be familiar with customer’s part making and packaging requirements.

  • Identifies and documents product nonconformances.

  • Maintains quality documentation in accordance with OMS and AS9100.

  • Supports and assists with corrective and preventive actions.

  • Performs part markings and packaging of in-process and finished components per customer requirements as needed.

  • Performs system and product audits within the work center.

  • Serves as main focal for questions from team members and answer questions from others regarding interpretations of LMI/customer requirements and how they apply.

  • Works side by side with team members as a functioning team member.

  • Involved in hands-on or OJT training for the team.

  • Supports Supervisor in achieving short and long term vision and goals.

  • Assists Supervisor in all facets of managing and supporting the team.

  • Understands all aspects of the LMI paperwork flow as it affects shipping.

  • Achieves and acts in the role as “delegated authority” in shipping area, supporting LMI’s quality system.

  • Performs duties in an accurate and timely manner with minimal supervision.


  • High school diploma or high school equivalency preferred. Candidates that do not have a high school diploma or high school equivalency will be required to take a pre-employment assessment to be considered for the role.

  • 2-5 years of directly related experience..

  • Experience reading and understanding aerospace drawings, blueprints, and specifications for sheet metal and assembly parts.

  • Highly detail oriented with a strong background in Aerospace manufacturing and quality assurance.

  • Experience in final inspecting, first article inspections, and completing quality documentation.

  • Demonstrated decision-making ability utilizing good judgement in determining the appropriate guideline, procedure, and application to utilize in solving problems.

  • Thorough understanding of process flows, lead times and lean principles in a manufacturing environment.

  • Possesses working knowledge of and functional experience in the use of hand measuring devices/instruments (e.g. calipers, Ohm-meter, Micrometer, etc.).

  • Possesses computer skills including AS400, familiar with the Microsoft Suite, internet and customer portals.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time

  • Noise levels ranging from quiet to extremely loud

  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the manufacturing floor including, but not limited to, eye, ear, and foot protection

  • May occasionally lift and /or move up to 10-50 pounds
