Dow Silicones Corporation. As a Senior Research Specialist, the Beneficiary will utilize their unique and critical knowledge of and experience in Chemical Engineering and Dow Silicones Corporation processes, procedures, tools, and methodologies to successfully complete the following complex responsibilities; Develops and implements technical solutions via hands-on experimentation and problem solving, employing the scientific method and sound experimental design, effectively managing and interpreting data, and creatively applying existing technology and generating novel ideas; Exhibits knowledge of engineering issues and scale-up (compounding/mixing, heat transfer, separation techniques, reaction engineering, catalysis, filtration, etc.); Set goals and milestones with direct Research & Development (R&D) leader and business R&D teams (assistance will be provided in defining and prioritizing goals); Works independently and balances multiple projects to achieve agreed-upon project/team goals; Demonstrates agility to complete work across lab, plant, and office settings; Networks with subject matter experts for guidance on reactive chemicals, process safety, industrial hygiene, mechanical integrity, and material compatibility to carry out project work confidently and safely; Conducts projects in a team environment, interacting well with others, exhibiting inclusive behaviors, and building effective relationships; Interacts and collaborates with other plants, regions, functions, product lines, contract manufacturers, and/or Core R&D to achieve goals and improve outcomes; Demonstrates customer focus via timely delivery of commercialization objectives such as sample generation and scale-ups and by the development of robust products and processes; Drives for fundamental understanding of production methods including scale-up factors, sources of variation, and interactions; Helps troubleshoot complex manufacturing problems that require R&D support; Effectively communicate with various audiences including Process R&D colleagues, cross-functional project teams, and leadership; and Understands and applies Dow's intellectual property protection process including patent research, invention disclosures, and proper documentation (lab notebooks, technical reports, etc.). PhD in Chemical engineering or related engineering discipline required. Telecommuting may be permitted. When not telecommuting, must report into work site.
