September 5, 2023 Job Details Job Location:Rigaku Innovative Technologies Inc - Auburn Hills, MI Position Type:Full Time Description Rigaku Innovative Technology (RIT), a subsidiary of Rigaku Corporation, a global supplier of innovative analytical instruments for cutting-edge applications in biotechnology, iscurrently looking for anexperiencedPrecision Optics Scientist,who will be responsible for the development of optical polishing processes and technology for X-ray mirror components using optical CNC machinery or other equivalent technologies. Take lead role in the development of new processes aimed at the advancement of X-ray mirror technology. Development of new surface metrology characterization and improvement of existing metrology. Duties include the following: Work with small R&D team in optical polishing lab Operating CNC optical polishing and grinding machines. Development of new polishing processes Development of new metrology processes Apply statistical data analysis for optimization of polishing processes. Develop cost effective process methods with focus on precision and throughput. Data reduction and analysis of surface geometry and characterization Performing surface metrology characterization using profilometers and interferometers Running analytical software for data processing Maintenance and calibration of all optical machining and metrology equipment Assisting senior technical staff in development of new techniques and processes for advancement of X-ray mirror technology Qualifications Requirements: Doctorate degree in Physics, or Optical Engineering. Knowledge and 2+ years' experience in precision optics manufacturing required. 2+ years' experience with chemo-mechanical precision polishing required. 2+ years' experience with surface metrology techniques including Fizeau stitching metrology required. Experience with precision polishing using Ion Beam Finishing. Background in leading research projects. Strong analytical modeling skills, both physical modeling and mathematical modeling. Understanding the impact of surface characteristics to the performance of optics. Advanced knowledge of surface metrology techniques. Strong computer skills. Advanced programming concepts. Good dexterity for handling fragile parts. Advanced knowledge of optical CNC machining. Must be able to meet minimum qualifications to apply.
