Job Description:

Position: Emissions and Fuel Economy Testing Lab Hardware Engineer

Job Description: The Emissions and Fuel Economy Testing Lab Hardware Engineer must work as part of a team including engineers, union technicians, and mechanics to troubleshoot and resolve test equipment issues for 8 Emissions Chassis Dynamometer test cells, 5 SHEDs, and other emissions testing equipment. The engineer will perform quality control and calibration activities to satisfy regulatory and internal department requirements, including tracking and documentation. The engineer will assist with new test cell equipment integration to support new regulatory and powertrain testing community requirements. The engineer will work on projects to improve test cell efficiencies and throughput. The engineer will analyze test results and validate tests to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal criteria. The engineer must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Direct others in the field on the repair of test equipment, to maximize facility run time and assist technicians in their troubleshooting efforts. Prioritize, direct, and provide assistance with bench repairs to meet field demand, coordinate outsourced repair parts, and manage service part inventories. Troubleshooting issues on SHEDs, canister stations, and in the particulate weigh room. Maintain ISO 17025 accreditation in the emissions lab: update hardware documents, calibrate equipment on time. Run weekly vehicle crosscheck meeting, investigate issues, and address them in a timely manner. Run preventative maintenance tests to keep the lab up to EPA and CARB regulations. Analyze test results and validate tests to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal criteria. Upgrade the lab equipment to meet the needs of electric vehicle testing and regulations. Perform work force management and provide customer interface. Analyze department service metrics and develop process refinements to improve service.

Requirements: 2nd Shift Role -- 100% onsite Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering discipline Minimum of 2 years of experience in automotive testing, preferably experience with Vehicle or Engine Emissions testing equipment, including chassis dynamometers, analyzers, instrumentation, sampling systems, data acquisition (National Instrument Devices), PLCs, and Diesel/GDI Particulate Sampling. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and G Suite. Ability to understand, interpret and analyze data with attention to detail Must be a team player with ability to work with diverse group of engineers, supervisors, and UAW personnel Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs and projects simultaneously Analytical skills with a focus on root cause analysis. Self-motivated with good communication skills. This job is onsite at CTC (Auburn Hills, MI) No driving of a Stellantis Vehicle is required

Preferred Requirements: Master degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering 5+ years of experience working in a testing lab with vehicle or engine emissions
