Job Information

Transdev Vehicle Test Assistant in Atwater, California

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Transdev’s high standard of safety, inside and outside of the vehicle;

  • Consistently demonstrate situational awareness, an understanding of the technology in his/her care, and a willingness to constantly adjust to changes in the environment;

  • Be the deputy for technology by communicating courteously always with management, engineers, and the public;

  • Operate with safety as the primary goal;

  • Work closely with vehicle safety operators and provide detailed and accurate feedback about the testing;

  • Will emulate a pedestrian, bicyclist, motorcyclist and/or motor vehicle driver;

  • Set up/build small props; and

  • Comply with Transdev’s Autonomous Vehicle Division zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of alcohol or drugs during a shift, including randomized drug testing; and

  • All other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Meets driver requirements, including driving record and criminal history under applicable regulations and laws in the state(s) in which the self-driving vehicle monitor will be working.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience driving on public roads with a clean driving record;

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Proficiency with using a touchscreen smartphone (Android preferred by not required).

  • Must have good attention to detail and be able to quickly and concisely describe their thoughts;

  • Capable of responding quickly and simultaneously to multiple scenarios;

  • Adapt quickly to new and developing technology;

  • Cross-functional verbal and written communication and issue escalation;

  • Must be able to safely maneuver around autonomous vehicles;

  • Must be able to spend up to 45 hours, in a workweek, either walking around, riding a bicycle, and driving a vehicle on a closed course;

  • Must be able to withstand working outdoors in inclement weather;

  • Must be able to work specific shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends;

  • Must be eager, self-starter, and demonstrate good judgment, in fast-paced, high stress environments

  • Punctual, reliable, and team player; and

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Travel up to 10% of the time

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years old;

  • All Transdev employees must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Safety Sensitive Positions will also be subject to a physical screening

  • Transdev maintains a Drug Free Workplace and may require participation in a random drug screening program.

  • Transdev reserves the right to perform ongoing background checks for all employees except in states where this is prohibited by state law. Transdev will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements.

  • Employees must maintain an acceptable Driving Record suitable to being approved to drive as part of their regular duties. Records are monitored on an ongoing or regular basis pursuant to local state law.

  • Ability to qualify for an Autonomous Vehicle Tester (AVT) license in states and positions where it’s required

  • If based in the United States, applicants must be eligible to work in the US without restrictions for any employer at any time as required by the USCIS.
