Escambia County Commission Heavy Equipment Operator or Truck Driver - Atmore in Atmore, Alabama

This is a full-time position working for the Escambia County Highway Department - Atmore Area. This position is for a Heavy Equipment Operator OR Truck Driver. THE EMPLOYEE CAN HAVE THE ABILITY TO BE EITHER A HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR OR A TRUCK DRIVER. HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR The employee must be able to operate a backhoe, loader, steel rollers, and mowing equipment. The employee will be responsible for the operation of selected road equipment in the reconstruction and maintenance of County roads, drainage ditches, and bridges. The employee shall also be able and required to perform related manual work using weed eaters, bush axes, shovels, vibratory tampers, chainsaws, etc. to maintain County right of way. Must be responsible for equipment and able to check to make sure equipment is in good working order daily, including checking fluids, tire pressure, etc. prior to beginning operations each day. Shall be able to complete daily maintenance on equipment and complete maintenance reports and required to schedule monthly maintenance. Shall be able to complete daily activity reports as required by supervisor. TRUCK DRIVER Must have the ability to operate a dump truck and have a current Commercial Driver's License. The employee shall also be able and required to perform related manual work using weed eaters, bush axes, shovels, vibratory tampers, chainsaws, etc. to maintain County right of way. Must be responsible for the dump truck and able to check to make sure the truck is in good working order daily, including checking fluids, tire pressure, etc. prior to beginning operations each day. Shall be able to complete daily check lists for the truck and be responsible for scheduling maintenance for the truck. Shall be able to complete load tickets and daily activity reports as required by supervisor. Shall also be able to operate mowing equipment. The Crew Chief will decide each day which duties the employee is required to perform. HOURS/DAYS OF WORK: 7:00am-5:00pm. Monday - Thursday
