**[About this opportunity: [This position is responsible for Performing financial reporting activities including preparation of financial reports, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of assigned accounting activities, as well as for HUD Audits and 990 Tax Returns and Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT) Tax Returns. Ensures accounting and financial reporting activities are performed in accordance with established policies and procedures and standards, including internal control standards, accounting standards [including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)], legal requirements, Salvation Army standards from international, national, territorial, and THQ publications, and local, state and federal rules and regulations.

  • Attains and maintains practical knowledge of relevant standards to monitor compliance of accounting workflow including, but not limited to internal control standards, accounting standards [including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)], legal requirements, Salvation Army standards from international, national, territorial, and THQ publications, and local, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Reviews cash receipts and identifies donation streams (sources) and works with the originating bank, originating payor, and corresponding THQ Departments or Divisions to obtain data necessary to distribute and account for funds completely and accurately, and consistently, and includes such information in the cash receipts documentation.
  • Prepares the monthly ACH drafts of Salvation Army unit's operating bank accounts for their monthly interest and principal payments, draws down and records line of credit funds from the financial institution for authorized loan funds as necessary for project funding as authorized by Territorial Boards.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, And
  • Three years of progressively responsible accounting experience. OR
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
