Home Depot Senior Engineer, NCD Support in Atlanta, Georgia

Position Purpose:

This position reports to the Director of NCD and supports the entire NCD team for all engineering concepts and details needed. Experience in concept refinement, value engineering, material selection, manufacturing processes and production ready documentation. Anticipates the specific engineering needs of each project and works to coordinate activities between internal departments and vendors to ensure the best quality, on time and within budget. Thoroughly understands the critical importance of clear and organized communication between all company departments including design, operations project management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 25% Analysis -

  • 10% Liaison - Internally and Externally

  • 50% Ideation and designing

  • 10% Online - Documentation and support for IRT and field execution.

  • 5% Tracking and Reporting - Tracks and reports progress towards goals, proactively resolves issues to avoid delays, escalates as required.

  • Minimum 3+ years in general design and development, preferably in retail store fixture, millwork or display design, steel fabrications and manufacturing.

  • High level of proficiency with 3D modeling software - Inventor; FormZ or SolidWorks.

  • Working knowledge of industry standard construction and manufacturing methods used in the production of retail and commercial fixtures.

  • Manufacturing process familiarity and 'shop floor' experience.

  • Initiative necessary to learning internal processes and company 'language'

  • Self-starter with ability to excel in an autonomous role while meeting commitments to customer under tight deadlines.

  • Proficiency with common office applications, such as MS Office and Power Point.

  • Effective communication skills.

  • Creativity, accuracy, and an ability to develop innovative and simplified solutions to complex problem.

  • Managing and maintain fixture drawing library and communicating revisions to vendors.

  • Convert, revise vendor provided drawings to meet company standards including construction details, dimensions, bill of materials and hardware.

  • Create and detail retail Fixture Prints and drawings.

  • Value engineer drawings or identify other cost saving methods.

  • Working knowledge of UL certification and ADA Compliance

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

  • This postion reports to Director.

  • This position 0-2 direct reports

Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 Year - Mechanical or other Engineering degree, directly related to Metal or structural fabrication.

  • 2 Year Associates - with directly correlated industry retail or manufacturing experience of 2+ years.

Minimum Education:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Preferred Education:

    • Industrial design & other engineering degrees. Hands on manufacturing experience would be a plus.
