Newell Brands Sr. Financial Analyst in Atlanta, Georgia

This position will join the Outdoor & Recreation Business Unit Financial Planning and Analysis team with the primary responsibility of assisting the Sr. Manager with reporting, forecasting and consolidation across the Outdoor & Recreation Business Unit (‘OAR’). The key responsibilities include supporting month end close, financial reporting and forecasting, and strategic projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Support global division FP&A monthly close, reporting, forecasting and planning with some US regional responsibility, including but not limited to the following:

  • Prepare, distribute, and present monthly key performance indicator reviews to cross functional stakeholders and senior management teams

  • Continually drive financial reporting process improvements

  • Gather global input for monthly net sales and OI flash calls sent to Corporate

  • Assist team in analyzing and forecasting Working Capital and drive towards division cash flow targets.

  • Assist with Budget planning and forecasting for total Outdoor & Recreation, including but not limited to consolidating regional budget decks and financial system loading for OAR HQ.

  • Conduct ad hoc analysis on the business across stated strategic priorities and metrics as business needs arise

  • Manage P&L consolidation for all regions to ensure accuracy in reporting of YTD Actuals

  • Maintain and distribute monthly US SG&A results to various finance and business stakeholders, ensuring accuracy in reporting and forecasting

  • Lead the month-end close accounting process for US A&P and Overheads including posting journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and maintaining an effective internal control environment

  • Understand people and bought cost drivers across the US in detail and communicate findings to Sr Leadership

  • Coordinate with various cross-functional partners to create financial forecasts and communicate balance of year risks and opportunities

  • Work with Leaders to establish Overheads and A&P spend strategy

  • Roll-up global SG&A and work with regional FP&A leads to ensure A&P and Overheads forecast timeliness and accuracy with assigned targets

  • Design consistent processes for tracking performance against PY, Plan & Forecasts.

Key Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Minimum of 4-6 years’ experience in the fields of finance / accounting.

  • Experience in a Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) environment preferred

  • Previous FP&A finance experience preferred

  • Possess a thorough understanding of financial statements and relationships between income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statements.

  • Exhibits strong personal accountability, organization & attention to detail

  • Self-motivated in achieving goals and completing tasks on-time

  • Experience with analyzing large amounts of data, and ability to synthesize financial / business impact information into clear and concise summaries for presentations

  • Ability to learn new financial information systems and data and to work between various IT systems efficiently and accurately

  • Advanced PC skills and proficiency with various applications; MS Excel and SAP Production & Business Warehouse environments, including experience with Excel VBA/Macros.
