Exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer with WestRock in Smyrna, GA!

The Opportunity:

The Electrical Engineer will analyze existing electrical systems and making cost-effective improvements, generating electrical BOMs, creating wiring schematics, completing quality assurance, inspecting the equipment, as well as running diagnostics, and ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications. You will be working with the Packaging, Machinery and Automation (PM&A) Team based in Smyrna, GA, where you will assist to develop equipment through the implementation of immerging technologies and best in class controls design practices for high-speed automated packaging equipment.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Demonstrate strong leadership abilities and organizational skills. Candidates should be passionate about engineering and able to efficiently troubleshoot systems

  • Developing, reviewing, updating and modifying PLC, Motion and HMI Code

  • Generating and Maintaining BOMs

  • Developing, reviewing, updating and modifying safety systems to ensure standards are met.

  • Design Electrical schematics and Panel layouts to meet NEC / NFPA 70, UL508 standards.

  • Program using IEC standards LD, IL, SFC, ST.

  • Research new components to keep current with new technologies.

  • Developing, reviewing, updating, modifying, and approving electrical schematics.

  • Liaising with project managers, manufacturing and other engineers to ensure projects are completed to specifications.

  • Establishing relationships with customer facing organizations, vendors, suppliers, other professionals, and expanding networks.

  • Resolving supply chain issues by finding alternate parts when preferred components aren’t available.

  • Analyzing existing processes and scheduling meetings to discuss improvement initiatives.

  • Conducting research, performing diagnostics, and troubleshooting equipment

  • Drive development projects by directing and influencing cross functional teams.

  • Machine Production and Installation Support:

  • Support the Technical Sales managers on platform production projects.

  • Respond to questions, troubleshoot, provide studies and estimates.

  • Provide cost effective solutions to problems affecting the customer product while maintaining the integrity of the design.

  • Support field service in commissioning machines.

  • Work with customers to integrate the machine into projects.

  • Give guidance to assembly teams during manufacturing process

What you will need to Succeed:

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited ABET University

  • 3+ years of experience in electrical/controls/programming - Required

  • Experience with working with high speed, automated packaging machinery.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

  • Practical experience with Electrical CAD software.

  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Excellent motivational skills and multitasking abilities.

  • Ability to travel both Domestic and International

  • Provide standard machinery controls design for solving our customer's packaging needs.
