How you’ll make an impact:

The Manager - Forecast Optimization is a key contributor in the Retail Merchandising space, responsible for overseeing and optimizing our forecasts which influence financial planning, pricing, allocation, assortment, and other critical decisions. This individual manages efforts with a large cross-functional team of business owners to understand & improve forecast accuracy, develop use cases for translating the forecast into decision criteria, and develop tools and processes related to the forecasts.

This role reports to the Sr. Manager of Pricing & Analytics in the Planning Department and is based in our Atlanta office in our hybrid environment.

40%: Drive Forecast Accuracy

  • Analyze forecast to understand accuracy and accuracy trends, identify areas for improvement and work with forecast implementation team on strategies to increase forecast accuracy

  • Run recurring meetings with key stakeholders to share relevant topics on forecast, understand business needs, and drive toward solutions leveraging the forecast

  • Maintain a structured enhancement roadmap detailing planned improvements, while regularly prioritizing with core stakeholders to support business objectives

  • Measure benefit of increased forecast accuracy

  • Collect and communicate strategy shifts that will impact future forecast accuracy

40%: Drive process and change management to leverage forecast to drive value across Carter’s organization

  • Maintain a structured enhancement roadmap detailing forecast use cases, while regularly prioritizing with core stakeholders to support business objectives.

  • Lead the process change team as it relates to forecast use cases, define business requirements, work with stakeholders to iterate & evolve process, design & deliver training, and evaluate compliance & impact of changes

  • Get regular qualitative and quantitative feedback on usage of forecast and opportunities from end users

20%: Drive development of forecast tools and dashboards

  • Coordinate development of forecast tools and dashboards

  • Develop and deliver training for end users

  • Support forecast driven decision making

  • Maintain prioritization of future forecast development

We’d Love to hear from you if: (Requirements section)

Must have:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a highly analytical role (ie; Retail Analytics, Inventory Planning, Inventory Management & Allocation)

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot tables, Vlookups, etc)

  • SQL, Python, Tableau, data tools a plus

  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to drive business decisions and actionable results

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Naturally curious, eager to learn, and solution oriented

  • Experience in leading and managing projects

  • Experience in leading cross functional teams

  • Experience in business analysis, particularly gathering and translating business requirements into technical specifications

Preferred skills and experience:

  • User Support and Training: Providing training, and developing user-friendly documentation

  • Retail store experience
