Forward Air Litigation Paralegal in Atlanta, Georgia

Position: Litigation Paralegal

Job Description:

Forward Air is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our team. This position will be an integral part of our Legal Department, working closely with our attorneys, outside counsel, as well as our internal business clients providing various types of litigation support. You will assist with litigation management, including document preservation and docket control.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Provide litigation support, including intake of Service of Processes, generation of document preservation notices, and assistance with discovery requests

  • Maintain SharePoint, including organizing documents received from external legal counsel and in response to preservation requests

  • Administer the preservation section of the claims log and provide support for other sections at the quarterly wrap-up

  • Respond to discovery requests and communicate with outside counsel as needed

  • Facilitate the retrieval of legal documents such as lawsuits, subpoenas, and correspondence via Cogency, and ensure their accurate delivery to the appropriate individual or department

  • Receive, thoroughly review, and confirm liens, checking to see if current IC, coordinating with the accounting department to place funds on hold, and ultimately facilitating payment

  • Review and gather documents from across FAC, assessing their relevance, determining necessary redactions, and ensuring completeness before production for subpoenas

  • Manage email correspondence, assign contracts, and organize the contract inbox

  • Draft and revise Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) by marking up for changes and revisions

  • Compile quarterly reports for accounting/IT, occasionally extending support to other departments as required

  • Draft consent documents as required, ensure timely filing of annual reports, and manage registrations for new or foreign businesses in various states

  • Support conversion processes by procuring necessary documents, obtaining signatures, and facilitating paperwork completion

  • Maintain open communication with Legal team and business leadership to keep them advised of potential issues or risks regarding litigated matters

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience as a paralegal at a law firm or in-house with an emphasis on litigation support

  • Keen analytical and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to interact effectively across organization with levels of management

  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize competing matters

  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision

  • Excellent case files management skills

  • Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), legal research
