A local hospital in the Atlanta area is expanding its Environmental Services department and needs experienced Healthcare Housekeeping Technicians. This is a permanent position with the hospital. The environmental services technician level I is responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment. While executing the assigned tasks, the EVS Tech will have contact with patients, visitors, and clinical and non-clinical staff. Responsible for ensuring timely room turns related to patient throughput within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. The environmental services technician, in accordance with organizational standards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention and patient experience. Responsible for responding favorably to requests to adjust daily workflow or area assignments to meet facility needs.

The essential functions of this job include:

  • lifting up to 50 lbs continuously

  • standing consistently for up to 10 hours per day

  • ability to work weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

Responsible for daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient

care areas, equipment as assigned and other common areas of assignment.

 Performs duties while demonstrating working knowledge of the health care cleaning and

disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, equipment

handling, and labor-saving products for all items within the healthcare environment for

which tasked with servicing.

 Demonstrates the ability to operate and properly maintain all EVS tools and equipment

needed to clean and disinfect the environment.

 Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA)

 Recognizes the importance of how their communication is received by patients, visitors

and other health care workers, staff, etc.

The essential functions of this role include:

  • working in a smoke free environment

  • wearing steel toe shoes

  • manual lifting up to 50lbs

  • standing for 10 hours at one time

  • working weekends
