Home Depot Finance Manager: Labor Analytics and Forecasting, Supply Chain Finance in Atlanta, Georgia

Position Purpose:

The Finance Manager: Labor Analytics and Forecasting within the Supply Chain Finance team will helm pivotal initiatives leveraging advanced data analytics for strategic decision-making and optimization of the supply chain's financial performance. While labor finance management-our largest supply chain variable expense exceeding $1B annually-remains a primary focus, this role also encompasses a broader range of financial analytics responsibilities to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness across the supply chain. Your expertise in Python, SQL, forecasting, predictive analytics techniques, and a nuanced understanding of labor finance metrics will drive the development of innovative solutions, creating substantial business value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive Analytics Leadership: Develop and implement advanced predictive analytics and machine learning models to optimize supply chain performance, with a special emphasis on labor expense management. Extensive hands-on work with data analytics tools like BigQuery to support labor reporting, forecasting, and strategic planning, as well as other significant financial areas.

  • Centralized Forecasting Framework Development: Spearhead the creation of a unified system for labor reporting, forecasting, and planning. Integrate key labor metrics to enable more accurate and comprehensive analysis. Drive DC/Week forecast error to <= 10% WMAPE, align staffing models, and experiment with cutting-edge forecasting libraries.

  • Mentorship and Professional Development: Guide and mentor junior team members in data science, analytics, financial modeling, focusing on labor finance and broader financial management techniques. Promote a learning and growth environment.

  • Strategic Collaboration and Insightful Reporting: Work closely with IT, HR, operational teams, and external partners for robust data and analytics infrastructure. Enhance reporting and BI capabilities for actionable insights across supply chain finance.

  • Oversight of Strategic Financial Investments: Employ a data-driven approach to oversee strategic investment projects, optimizing resource allocation across labor and other critical areas to maximize ROI.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Analysis/Problem Solving - Works to fully understand business; identify and implement process and organizational improvements. Plans and ensures execution of department objectives. Participates in preparation of the annual budget, reviews monthly expenditures and ensures that budgetary goals are met. Reviews monthly metrics to ensure goals are met.

  • Conduct financial planning for function and make appropriate recommendations.

  • Leads, plans, and coordinates work teams in an efficient manner to effectively perform any financial function and activity; utilizes metrics to track performance and manage workload. Ensures operational processes and procedures are compliant and consist with established policies.

  • Drive key functional financial metrics.

  • Project Management- Develops and supports a strategic alliance with business partners. Participates in cross-functional activities focused on solving business issues and enhancing our competitive advantage. Facilitates cross-functional communication with other areas of the business including but not limited to Finance, Human Resources, Real Estate, Operations, and Information Systems.

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

  • Typically reports to a Director level

  • This position has no direct reports.

Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Supply Chain Financial Management: Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, data-driven decision-making, and supply chain dynamics with a strong focus on labor finance.

  • Advanced Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Python, SQL, BigQuery or similar. Capability to handle complex analytics and forecasting across various financial areas, with a particular focus on labor expense optimization.

  • Leadership and Team Development: Proven leadership abilities and experience in mentoring and developing teams.

  • Collaborative and Strategic Thinking: Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights

Minimum Education:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Minimum Years of Work Experience:

  • 5

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practicies, analysis and reporting of financial data.

  • Knowledge of business and mgmt. Principles involved in strategic planning and resource allocation.

  • Project management skills; ability to prioritize and mult-task effectively.

  • Judgement and decision-making skills; considering relative costs, benefits of potential actions.
