Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience designing and implementing product architectures on a variety of computing platforms.

  • Previous experience implementing, converting, and managing technologies, including diagnosing complex technical problems in a multi-layered enterprise application environment.

  • Thorough understanding of the interactions between technology systems, applications, and services.

Job Summary

Analyzes and translates complex technical requirements into architectural blueprints or proofs of concept for one or more information technology products and/or systems. Ensures the quality, scalability, and supportability of business applications.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Defines, designs, and oversees the systems and applications architecture for current and future technology products and business applications.

  • Understands product vision and business requirements to define product architectures and works with product managers to plan and execute new product releases.

  • Partners with cross-functional teams to ensure products and solutions meet business requirements, are well documented, and have processes in place for ongoing support and maintenance.

  • Develops architecture and design principles to improve product performance, capacity, and scalability.

  • Maintains architectural standards to ensure product development needs align with business objectives.

  • Assists technology teams with issues needing technical expertise and complex systems knowledge.

  • Evaluates new and emerging technologies and developmental methodologies to find faster, cost effective, and more reliable solutions for existing and proposed systems.

  • Provides training and guidance to technology teams.

Nature and Scope

  • Solutions require analysis and investigation.

  • Operates with considerable latitude. Situations may have little or no precedent requiring original or new concepts or approaches without guidance from others. Reaches decisions under conditions of uncertainty.

  • Develops or engages/directs others in developing innovative solutions to important, highly complex strategic and operating problems; cross-departmental considerations are often present.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
