Robert Half Desktop Support Technician in Atlanta, Georgia

Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Desktop Support Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing technical support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing network printers, and administering Active Directory. This role will primarily focus on resolving break/fix issues, ensuring the smooth operation of desktop systems, and supporting users with technical inquiries.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and assistance to end-users regarding hardware, software, and network-related issues.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve desktop, laptop, printer, and peripheral hardware problems in a timely manner.

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop operating systems and software applications.

  • Manage network printers, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting print-related issues.

  • Administer user accounts, permissions, and group policies in Active Directory.

  • Collaborate with other IT teams to escalate and resolve complex technical issues.

  • Document support activities, solutions, and procedures for knowledge sharing and reference.

  • Provide training and guidance to end-users on the effective use of IT systems and applications.

  • Assist in IT projects and initiatives, including hardware/software upgrades, migrations, and deployments.

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance technical skills and knowledge.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.

  • Proven experience as a Desktop Support Technician or similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of desktop hardware, software, and peripherals.

  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving break/fix issues.

  • Proficiency in managing network printers and resolving print-related problems.

  • Familiarity with Active Directory administration, including user management and group policies.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a customer-oriented approach.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), or similar are a plus.

  • Availability for occasional after-hours support and on-call rotation may be required.
