BODYARMOR is looking for a Technical Manager - Process & Packaging to join our team.

The Technical Manager - Process & Packaging will provide a broad range of engineering expertise and technical leadership to support all BODYARMOR's copacker locations and to oversee all aspects of beverage processing, product commercialization, and packaging technology development. This position requires expertise in beverage manufacturing and processing technologies as it relates to new product development, equipment and systems, optimization, continuous improvement, and support of technical programs. This position will report to the Director of Engineering and Industrialization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for line evaluations and ensuring capabilities to process BODYARMOR products. Provide technical support for product qualifications on new product launches and reformulations.

  • Responsibilities will include creating, maintaining, and updating process specifications and test protocols and reports.

  • Review and evaluate technology developments in beverage processing and associated packaging formats.

  • Recommend improvements to BA's manufacturing to enable innovation, improve quality and/or throughput.

  • Conduct technical feasibility assessments of new and existing co-manufacturers to support ongoing product development and quality improvements.

  • Identify and recommend capital equipment investment as needed to cover project needs.

  • Collaborate with New Product Development, Operations and Quality functions and our manufacturing network by providing technical leadership and process development expertise.

  • Plan and conduct plant trials to help validate or improve current processes.

  • Support commercial startups of new products or renovations.

  • Document technical process specifications to ensure product safety and quality.

  • Create plans and lead scale up trials performed at co-packers; coordinate with co-pack facilities, OEMs, and vendors, along with BODYARMOR HQ. Lead the documentation and reporting of the results.

  • Provide engineering support for co-packers: troubleshooting, operational improvement, and line efficiency improvement etc.

  • Have knowledge across primary packaging materials including PET, PP, PE, aluminum, steel, and glass.

  • Maintain a high level of awareness of current and emerging technologies in beverage process development with respect to equipment, engineering, design, regulatory requirements and make recommendations on their application to improve profitability of operations.

  • Concurrently manage and support multiple projects, ensuring timely and successful completion of activities to meet project milestones.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required, specialization in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or food engineering is required.

  • Must have 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and beverage process design principles including a combination of batching, pasteurization, filling, bottling, conveyance, case packing, cartoning, and palletizing required.

  • Experience with hot fill, tunnel pasteurization, cold fill, retort, and aseptic packaging desired.

  • Strong technical depth in pasteurization and beverage thermal processing technologies.

  • Experience in technical leadership of projects through commercialization, scale up and launch.

  • Ability to write protocols and reports clearly and concisely and in a timely manner.

  • Position requires substantial travel 50 - 75%, travel by car and plane.

  • Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to drive long distances at times.

  • Motor Vehicle Records must satisfy Company standards per Driving Policy
