Description

Emory University’s Department of Surgery’s Division of Transplant Surgery seeks a full-time fellowship trained Abdominal Organ Transplant Surgeon at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor and Kidney Surgical Director to join a robust team. Candidates will be considered based on their experience and long-term career interests.

Summary of Duties:

  • Service as a kidney surgical director and abdominal transplant surgeon for the Department of Surgery with an active inpatient and outpatient practice

  • Primary clinical practice focus on kidney and kidney / pancreas transplant

  • Exact duties could change based on department and programmatic needs and the interest of faculty member

  • Serve as Associate Director for Strategy and Operations for the Transplant Center

  • Participate in efforts to provide outstanding clinical care, maintain/improve quality and patient safety, access to and management of clinical trials, and developing/refining innovative strategies in the field of adult abdominal transplant surgery.

  • Have particular efforts focused in the areas of interest clinical or scientific research or quality improvement.

  • Participate in committees, patient selection conference, peer review, present cases in the M&M case conferences, manage patient workups and procedures according department guidelines, and adopt any tools and/or technologies deemed part of the practice of abdominal transplant.

  • Participate in clinical research within the Division as well as efforts to secure extramural funding.

  • Participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents and fellows and other rotators through the transplant surgery service.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an ASTS fellowship in Abdominal Organ Transplant.

  • Eligible to serve as Kidney Surgical Director per OPTN Bylaws

  • A valid, unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia.

  • A controlled Substance Registration Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate.
