Description

Emory Law seeks a student-success oriented person to join its established team in its Career Center. The Assistant Director of Career Services will work strategically with the team in the Career Center to manage the career services experience for assigned students and recent graduates. The successful candidate will be a results-driven, dynamic team player with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and have the ability to interact well with a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff. 

The successful candidate will enjoy working in an often fast-paced environment, in a role that calls for considerable self-directed initiative. In addition, they will have warmth and approachability, solid judgment, and the ability to plan, meet deadlines, and multitask. Some evening and occasional weekend work, as well as some local and out-of-state travel will be required. 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Provide career counseling services to graduate or professional students from all degree programs within the school as well as alumni of the school.

  • Assist with transfer students to ensure preparation for post-graduation job placement on an abbreviated timeline.

  • Plan and coordinate programming which may require speaking at events on behalf of the school.

  • Teach or co-teach career courses, classes, and workshops.

  • Generate employer leads through active participation in community events.

  • May advise student practice societies or career-focused clubs/organizations.

  • Create or edits communications materials related to career planning and placement such as newsletters, catalogs, departmental brochures and fliers.

  • Maintain professional growth by participating in educational programs and professional organizations and activities to maintain knowledge of national trends in the legal career services field.  

  • Perform related responsibilities as required. 

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree.

  • Two years of experience in career planning and placement or a related field.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATION:

  • Juris Doctor. 

  • Recent experience working in the legal profession with a preference practice in Big Law.  

  • Previous experience guiding law students or legal professionals.  

  • Experience working with Symplicity Management Systems.
