The Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH) at Emory University is one of seven graduate professional schools at Emory University and one of the fastest growing schools of public health in the country. Ranked #4 of CEPH Accredited Schools of Public Health by U.S. News and World Report, RSPH is a young, dynamic institution with over 1400 graduate professional students, 190 doctoral students and over 200 full-time faculty. This position along with the Sr. Associate Director of Academic Programs will support the MPH and MSPH Programs under the Health Policy and Management Department, approximately 200+ students.

Health Policy and Management (HPM) seeks an Assistant Director of Academic Programs (ADAP) to join our motivated team. This position is critical to the Department’s mission to prepare the next generation of influential public health professionals. The ADAP works closely with both Departmental leadership and RSPH Student/Career Services to provide excellent advising of students related to curriculum, applied practice experiences, and integrative learning experiences. The ADAP monitors student progress, interprets policies, and advises both students and faculty.


  • Interviews students to assist them in coordinating their academic course of study to ensure satisfactory completion of coursework requirements for graduation.

  • Provides career counseling and guidance in the scheduling of appropriate coursework.

  • Responds to inquiries regarding admissions and program requirements.

  • Provides input into the selection of candidates for admission and provides summarized analyses of application information.

  • Serves as a liaison between faculty and students; advocates student issues and concerns with the appropriate faculty or staff.

  • Designs, generates, administers and scores course examinations, grades tests, and forwards results to the appropriate area for academic processing.

  • Provides direction, referral, and placement resources to students seeking employment opportunities in their respective field of study.

  • May handle registration activities (course applications, fees, and materials) for various courses.

  • May provide instruction in the student computer laboratory. Maintains required record-keeping.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.


  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field and five years of experience in academic student counseling or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.


  • Master degree in Higher Education or a related field

  • Five plus years of experience in advising and/or administration in a university environment, preferably within a graduate or professional school

  • Experience in PeopleSoft (SLATE, OPUS, CANVAS) and use of multiple social media platforms to leverage communication with internal and/or external constituents

  • Experience in academic advising with high functioning student populations at the undergraduate or graduate level

  • Experience in managing student satisfaction and academic progress from recruitment to graduation

  • Experience in managing the admissions/recruitment cycle

  • Experience in student career counseling and coordination of Applied Practice Experience opportunities

  • Experience in high level multi-disciplinary university and/or school-wide committees
