Tool or Die Maker Job Summary: Builds and modifies tools, dies, jigs, molds, and fixtures using precision bench and machining operations. Duties & Responsibilities: Conducts tests for completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications Cuts, shapes and trims blocks to make adjustments Grinds and adjusts different parts to properly fit them together Selects metals to be used based on properties Ability to maintain tight tolerances Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Qualifications: Manual dexterity Detail oriented Organizational skills Experience with the use Surface Grinders Experience with Manual Bridgeport machining Experience with Manual Lathe machining Experience with General Drill Press work Experience with the use of Lap Belt machines Education Requirements: Preferred Vocational/Technical Education Years of Experience: Minimum 4 years - Maximum of 6 years of experience. Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. May act as a lead or first-level supervisor. Typically requires accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 4 to 6 years of experience.
