Ohio University Research Pilot (Pool Posting) in Athens, Ohio

Job Description:

This is a pool posting with a rolling application period that will continue through June 30, 2025. Qualified applicants may be hired from this pool on an ongoing basis.

Commands aircraft for the Avionics Engineering Center ( AEC ) on assigned flights for both transportation and flight test purposes. Plans and carries out safe and efficient air transport while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and foreign regulations and safety standards. Flight test experience preferred for airborne data collection missions involving ground- and satellite-based navigation, landing, and surveillance systems. Must be a fully licensed pilot able to command one or more AEC -owned-and-operated aircraft, specifically the DC-3, King Air, Baron, and Saratoga. Flight testing requires the following:

· Coordination with project engineers and crew members for the planning and implementation of data collection flight missions.

· Coordination with AEC Chief of Airborne/Mobile Labs regarding the installation and safe operation of data collection equipment installed on the aircraft.

· Coordination with FAA NAVAIDS personnel, FAA /military air-traffic/ops personnel, and local law-enforcement authorities associated with the planning of low/high altitude flight profiles.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Aviation or related field by start date.

Commercial pilot certificate; Second-class medical certificate; single engine and instrument rated.

Minimum of two years of related experience.

Minimum 300 flight hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

ATP multi-engine land certificate; First-Class medical certificate; CFI rating-airplane,

single engine, multi-engine, and instrument; tailwheel experience; Turbine and Multi Engine time. US Passport.
