Titan America Process R&D Manager in Athens, Greece

TITAN Cement Company is currently looking for a Process R&D Manager. The role is placed within the Group Research, Innovation & Quality (GRIQ) corporate department, reporting to the Group Head of R&D and is located at TITAN Kamari Cement Plant, in Greece.

The Process R&D Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of innovative decarbonization activities with emphasis on providing technical and managerial leadership for Carbon Capture, Utilisation & Storage, hydrogen initiatives and electrification. A strong engineering or scientific background and proven management skills are required, coupled with knowledge of the decarbonization landscape for industry. The role aims to identify decarbonization opportunities for the cement industry, evaluate novel technologies, plan new decarbonization activities and drive to execution innovative projects to achieve high technology readiness levels.

What you will be doing

  • Lead, coordinate and support techno-economic evaluation and industrial deployment of new processes with strong decarbonization potential for cement manufacturing, mainly related to Carbon Capture Utilization and/or Sequestration (CCU/S), hydrogen technologies, and electrification.

  • Collaborate with external partners and relevant stakeholders, including OEM’s, technology and service providers, start-ups, members of academia, and technology experts, to assess solutions in the emerging landscape of decarbonization technologies, identify opportunities and risks, and facilitate knowledge and technology transfer.

  • Structure, coordinate, and contribute to preparing strategy proposals for implementing industrial solutions for decarbonizing cement manufacturing, considering technology appropriateness, decarbonization potential, budgetary requirements, and financing opportunities.

  • Coordinate and support activities related to the industrial deployment of processes with strong decarbonization potential, from the pilot- to full-scale, across different locations of interest for TITAN Cement Group.

  • Guide, coordinate and collaborate with project teams across TITAN Business Units to deliver results in a goal-directed, time-conscious, and structured way, managing cross-functional interfaces.

  • Maintain and expand business and scientific networks. Coordinate aspects relevant to contractual agreements, conflict of interest, the copyright for scientific publications, or support Intellectual Property management.

    What you will bring

  • Ph.D. Diploma in Engineering or Science (preferably in Chemical, Industrial, Mining, or Materials Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry); proven working experience of at least four years in a relevant research or industrial position within international organizations will be appreciated.

  • Alternatively, a Master’s degree in one of the above fields with proven working experience of at least eight years in relevant industrial or research positions.

  • Demonstrated capacity in project management, processes, and tools, including planning and tracking progress, timelines, and budgets. Demonstrated ability to deliver results in time and operate within budget.

  • Technical proficiency in industrial processes related to decarbonization, with a preference for hands-on experience in cement manufacturing.

  • Exceptional scientific background with a proven record of accomplishment (e.g., high caliber published work, relevant completed projects, or other appropriate).

  • Strong organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Technology-savvy, with an ability to master industrial software applications.

  • Fluency in English and in at least one other EU language.

  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, combined with exceptional writing competence, focusing on professional, scientific publications and reports.

  • Demonstration of scientific knowledge outside of core specialty.

  • International travel within the EU and other destinations will be required (an estimated 10% of the time).
