Location

This position is based in Athens Georgia with responsibility for providing supervisor leadership for the Fleet operation in the NE Region to include the following Fleet Service Centers: Cornelia, Gainesville, Athens and Gwinnett. Candidate must live within a commutable distance of the Athens area. Relocation assistance is not available.

Job Experience and Education

Required:

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)

  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership either by a permanent assignment as a Supervisor, Temporary Supervisor role assignment and or a career developmental assignment as a supervisor.

Preferred:

  • 2-5 year's experience working in a fleet organization.

  • 4-year degree or a 2-year technical school automotive certificate.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office applications.

  • Working knowledge of Fleet Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) or equivalent (preferred).

  • This inculdes any record keeping system you may have used.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of managing a fleet equipment asset management system.

  • A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred.

  • Understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines.

  • Understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) Requirements.

  • Mechanical and technical knowledge of vehicles Class 1-8, off road and various other fleet equipment.

  • Ability to travel utilizing a company provided vehicle.

  • Understanding of Performance management.

Job Description

The Fleet Supervisor is expected to provide strong leadership utilizing the following competencies:

Business Execution

Responsible for the oversight of scheduling and completing preventive maintenance and repairs of various vehicles and equipment to ensure its safety and reliability. They ensure all safety and compliance vehicle/equipment bulletins are completed by the due date. This position ensures their team’s quality of work is done safely and performed according to policies and procedures. They are expected to lead themselves and their team has a safety and well-being focus on all day-to-day operations in their area. The Fleet Supervisor will lead a team of employees covered by a union contract. The Supervisor is charged with ensuring the Fleet Service Centers are environmentally compliant, safe and their team members are performing work safely. Afterhours support for the service area and coordinating storm/emergency support in their service territory, at times at other service territories in Georgia Power or other Southern Companies (Alabama Power, Mississippi Power and Southern Company Gas) are requirements of this position.

Communication

The Fleet Supervisor is responsible for continuous communication with their team, peer Fleet Supervisors, Fleet Technical Support team and external partners. The Supervisor should be able to collaborate across the Fleet organization to drive positive organizational goals.

Relationships & Networking

Building and leveraging relationships with external partners they serve, and other Fleet’s in Southern Company operating companies is expected of the Fleet Supervisor. The Supervisor is expected to foster team collaboration and teamwork. They are active participants on various committees.

Innovation

Understanding how executing to meet fleet’s operating metrics connects to the overall success of Georgia Power. This is done by strategic thinking and planning, utilizing Fleet’s Enterprise Asset Management Software (EAM). This position is expected to use various scheduling tools to effectively plan work for their area. Being a champion of continual change to drive organizational improvement is a required characteristic of a Fleet Supervisor.

Development of Others

The Fleet Supervisor is expected to give continuous performance feedback to their team members. This is done by ensuring they hold their team members accountable. They are expected to encourage and foster professional development of their team members.

Other Information

This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:

  • Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license).

  • Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.

  • Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
