    Job Summary

    IMI is seeking a full-time Project Manager for our Pipe Division local to the Watkinsville, GA area.

    Essential Functions

    The Pipe Project Manager will be responsible for managing the construction and delivery of industrial piping projects in industries such as: Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Plastics, Fibers, Food & Beverage, Wood, Automotive, Paper, Oil & Gas, and many others.  The  incumbent  will manage department staff and communicate with other departments to ensure products are delivered on time, at budget, according to the contract scope, and in line with customer and IMI expectations for performance and safety.

  • Ensure the safe operation of all projects by following and enforcing all company and customer safety policies and regulations.

  • Ability to serve as a liaison between customers, vendors, project managers, and other employees regarding current and future projects.

  • Strong communication skills, especially with respect to directing others.

  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple employees and projects at once.

  • Estimate the value of work based on IMI standardized processes and tools.

  • Ability to develop material takeoffs from customer supplied prints.

  • Assist in the design, planning, and implementation of a project clearly articulating project scope, goals, and deliverables.

  • Develop full scale project plans with timelines.

  • Develop and manage budgets.

  • Review and approve design drawings prior to customer submittal.

  • Provide direction and support to project teams.

  • Constantly monitor and report on progress of projects to all stakeholders including problems and solutions.

  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.

  • Close assigned projects with a managed review with division manager and customers that validates quality of work and adherence to scope of work.

  • Assist to develop and implement a strategy to increase business in your designated area and cultivate positive customer relationships with existing and potential customers.

  • Assist in hiring and developing a field crew for Pipe group/division.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline or 3-5 years of experience in project management.

  • Ability to manage multiple job tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, architects, engineers, and stakeholders.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Ability to read and understand construction specifications and drawings.

  • Experience in the fabrication and installation of piping systems in the commercial and industrial applications.

  • Ability to inspect, correct, and coach on proper applications of fitting and welding procedures.

  • Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, copper, and various high pressure/temperature alloys.

  • Experience applying pipefitting techniques and methods for different types of pipefitting systems, including butt welded, socket welded, threaded, Victaulic, grooved, glued, and fused joints.

  • Initiative with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Highly focused on quality.

    Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Standing or walking for long periods of time.

  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects.

  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance.

  • Must be able to remain in a seated position for long periods of time.

  • Manual dexterity needed for repetitive tasks and operating standard operating equipment.

  • Ability and willingness to work from vehicle up to 75% of time quoting work/visiting customers.

  • Willing to travel overnight up to 5% of the time.
