About this role

Carrier Transicold has an opportunity for a Buyer to join our team in Athens GA onsite .

As a procurement professional, the Buyer will carry out processes, standards, and operational plans in support of purchasing activities, including RFPs, negotiation preparations, and cost analysis. The Buyer will work closely with others in activities associated with purchasing goods, materials, supplies, and/or services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procure $40-$60 million worth of production components

  • Provide quality service while following company policy and facilitating seamless order entry

  • Minimize inefficiencies promptly

  • Establish effective contact with cross-functional teams; support communication and idea generation

  • Prepare sourcing strategies, manage supplier relationships, and present alternative solutions

  • Support multiple product lines, lead and develop a supply base of 60-80 suppliers

  • Initiate/execute strategies that drive supplier cost reduction, quality, and accountability

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate degree

  • 3+ years of purchasing experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Negotiating skills regarding contracts/pricing

  • Able to thrive in a dynamic environment

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry, OEM, and/or supply chain management

  • English written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-starter capable of working with minimal oversight and proactive in seeking solutions

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and MRP/ERP system experience

  • Demonstrate initiative while working with different sides of the business
