ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are currently seeking a General Manager of Sales for the Fenwal Controls brand of Gas Burner and Temperature Control products. Founded in 1935, Fenwal Controls designs and manufactures industry leading agency-approved temperature controls, heat detectors and gas burner control products. Fenwal Controls, a subsidiary of Kidde-Fenwal, Inc. (“KFI”), serves Original Equipment Manufacturers (“OEMs”) in HVAC, commercial cooking, agriculture, medical, recreational vehicles, industrial equipment, fire protection and many other markets. This position reports to the Managing Director of KFI.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overall responsibility for the growth, profitability, and sustainability of the Fenwal Controls business

  • Approve all product pricing and customer quotes on an as-needed and annual basis

  • Create and implement growth plans

  • Responsible for the Fenwal Controls P&L to meet growth, profitability and financial targets

  • Monitor, analyze and proactively respond to market conditions, including industry, technological, governmental and pricing trends

  • Directly manage Fenwal Controls’ staff:

  • Sales, product management and marketing communications team

  • Internal sales support team responsible for forecasting, pricing management, customer communications, and Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP)

  • Product management and marketing communications team responsible for new product roadmap, voice of customer, product life cycle management, technical documentation, promotional materials, website, social media, and trade shows

  • Manage Fenwal Controls’ customer and key supplier relationships

  • Engage key customer leadership to maintain open lines of communication and build brand trust

  • Work with KFI legal and supply chain teams to develop, negotiate and approve key customer and supplier contracts

  • Maintain close relationships with key Fenwal Controls suppliers to best leverage supply chain capabilities to serve and grow sales

  • Represent Fenwal Controls at trade and industry association meetings as required

  • Interlock with KFI operations teams to support the business

  • Work directly with KFI engineering team in US and global locations to ensure that product development goals, customer priorities and value engineering programs are aligned to business goals and implemented on time and on cost

  • Maintain close alignment with KFI operations team to drive on-time delivery, response to customer quality issues, and continuous improvement

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • 2+ years of direct management experience

  • 5+ years of OEM sales experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years’ experience directly managing a small-to-medium industrial/commercial business

  • Experience in OEM commercial products, highly preferred

  • Familiarity working in an ISO 9000 / similar structured quality environment

  • Working knowledge of product sales channels through independent representatives, direct to OEMs, and through distribution

  • Demonstrated effective communication skills: internal/external presentations, technical topics, meetings and general correspondence

  • Ability to collaborate and guide multiple departments to accomplish unified goals

  • Comfortable working in a small flexible commercial team with an emphasis on adaptability and customer service

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • 10-15% travel expected, both domestic (customers) and international (key suppliers)
