About our opportunity: The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Tradesworker Temp/Seasonal in the Community and Regional Entertainment Facilities department. This department oversees the maintenance, repair, and construction of City-owned buildings, facilities, and parks, including the Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Perform technical trades work in maintenance, repair, and construction of City-owned buildings, facilities, and parks, including mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and other equipment.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and planned projects ensuring environmentally safe conditions and adherence to safety standards.

  • Execute building maintenance tasks such as flooring, ceiling, fixture installations, painting, and concrete work.

  • Handle various electrical tasks including troubleshooting, wiring, receptacle installation, and light fixture replacements.

  • Manage plumbing tasks including troubleshooting, pump and plumbing system repairs, and fixture installations.

  • Maintain and repair heating and air-conditioning systems, assists in troubleshooting HVAC issues, and performs duct system installations or repairs.

  • Undertake general maintenance tasks like graffiti removal, snow and debris clearing, shop cleaning, and playground equipment maintenance.

  • Operate and maintain various equipment, tools, and supplies necessary for essential functions.

What you Bring:

We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered:

  • High school diploma or GED; supplemented by two years of experience in construction, building trades, or maintenance.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with nights and weekends as needed based on the event schedule.
