Summary

About our opportunity:

The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Production Technician Lead in the Community and Regional Entertainment Facilities department. This department oversees the technical aspects of events held at the City’s Harrah’s Cherokee Center.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing technical and logistical support for audio and video equipment in various meeting and conference rooms.

  • Coordinating and performing audio and lighting services for events, including live mixing performances.

  • Leading and coordinating the daily work activities of contracted stagehands and technicians.

  • Maintaining and coordinating stage space and equipment usage to ensure smooth operations during events.

  • Conducting regular testing, maintenance, and repairs of equipment.

  • Maintaining inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies.

  • Communicating effectively with supervisors, colleagues, contractors, and the public.

About you:

We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered:

  • Associate degree in Music or Theater Technology, or a related field, supplemented by three years of experience in executing lighting or sound services for live productions or stage management; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.

  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all City or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
