FIELD FOOD SAFETY COMPLIANCE SUPERVISOR

LOCATION: LAMONT, CA

COMPENSATION: $66,560 / YEAR

PURPOSE:

To ensure that the companys food safety programs are compliant with all relevant auditing requirements including the Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement, GFSI audit scheme, and Produce Safety Rule. To review Good Agricultural Practice programs andassist in the training of personnel to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain and update food safety records/information.
  • Review all food safety documentation.
  • Track and lead corrective actions for food safety related items.
  • Plan and coordinate weekly and daily tasks for Field Food Safety Compliance Technicians.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to compliance technicians to mitigate issues as they arise in the field.
  • Provide training to Field Food safety technicians on the job and on as needed basis.
  • Compile and report all issues as they arise from all Field Food Safety Compliance technicians to the Food Safety management team.
  • Assist the Food Safety Department in developing food safety, training, and regulatory initiatives to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations as well as compliance with specific customer requirements.
  • Verify and ensure that growers, harvesters, and labor contractors maintain compliance with all applicable Food Safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support for third party and internal Food Safety audits and their preparations and follow up with corrective actions.
  • (PrimusGFS, LGMA, customer and regulatory).
  • Assist in the training of personnel to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
  • Identify areas of potential Food Safety concern and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Protect security and confidentiality of company information at all times.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relations with all applicable representatives of Grimmway Farms, growers, harvesters, suppliers, etc.
  • Perform other related tasks and job duties as directed by the management team.
  • Utilize GIS program and upload documents to vendor portals.
  • Maintain, review, and file all relevant field food safety documentation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to occasionally move about inside the office, food processing facilities and frequently move around farming fields. Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment. Ability to inspect equipment and product. Ability to continuously work outdoors all day in various and sometimes extreme weather conditions. Ability to work with farming chemicals. Must be able to work in different temperatures (working temperatures as hot as 100 to 110 F and as cold as -20 F to 32 F). Work in wet and damp environment.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Agricultural experience a plus.
  • Must have working knowledge of PrimusGFS, LGMA, GAP and PSR (Produce safety Rule - FSMA), etc.
  • Field Food Safety Compliance Supervisor shall be self-directed, organized and detail oriented and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality about all aspects of job.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required, along with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Power Point.
  • Employee may be required to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays if needed.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively including some evenings, weekends, and the winter season.
  • This position will require the employee to relocate to the Coachella area for roughly 80% of the winter season. (Housing or housing allowance provided by the company).
  • Bi-lingual, English/Spanish a plus.
  • Must have a valid drivers license with a clean DMV driving record.
  • Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen.
