Application Consultant, IBM Corporation, Armonk, NY and various unanticipated client sites throughout the US (Up to 60% telecommuting permitted): Set-up OpenShift container platform clusters for high availability and efficient container orchestration. Monitor cluster capacity and health for OpenShift deployments expected capacity and increase the capacity by adding additional data nodes to ensure resource availability. Perform cluster checks on control plane for database, API (Application Program interface) storage, data nodes for CPU steal, local storage, network configurations to ensure cluster is healthy. Participate in creating deployment configurations for services, routes, service accounts, allocating and assigning persistent storage for applications to store data within the cluster. Cleanup orphan images on internal registry and OpenShift container registry to store application images for faster access from application containers and data nodes. Participate in service creation for Java and Go-based applications with set of replications on individual environments per business requirement. Provide virtual machines for services hosted on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) on OpenStack and VMWare platforms. Set-up Consul for service discovery and Vault for secret management enabling applications to discover target endpoints and store sensitive data. Create playbooks for configuration management and achieve desired state by executing the playbook on desired targets. Utilize: OpenShift, RedHat OpenStack, Ansible, Consul, Vault and VMWare. Required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related (employer will accept a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of progressive experience in lieu of a Master’s degree) and one (1) year of experience as an Application Developer, DevOps Engineer or related.
