Koniag Professional Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Uniformed Security Services (USS) Officer with a Secret Clearance to support KPS and our government customer in Arlington, VA.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • The purpose of the uniform security officer services is to protect personnel, information, property, and business continuity by “detecting, deterring, observing and reporting.”

  • The personnel of the uniformed security services shall accomplish this by performing the following activities:

  • Control access to and within the building, to include administering safety screening, requiring employees and/or visitors to display proper passes or identification before entering the facility or a controlled area.

  • Escort and closely observe various personnel, with special emphasis on foreign nationals, maintenance personnel, and people without security clearances that are in DARPA controlled space.

  • Enforce DARPA and DoD security and safety rules and directions.

  • Direct and control vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

  • Operate emergency equipment (e.g., AED, Protective Mask, etc.).

  • Respond to potential medical emergencies and perform first aid, CPR, and AED. In relation to these activities, the contractor shall perform periodic evaluations (not less than once per month per shift) of the response to potential medical events. The evaluations will be in a written format that is prescribed by the Government and will be provided to the Government for review.

  • Observe and immediately report suspicious, illegal, unsafe, or unsecure, activities or people inside or outside the building, taking protective or corrective actions were prudent or necessary.

  • Check and report on equipment, security containers, doors, and computer, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and telephone equipment/systems, facilities, and environmental conditions, taking corrective action where possible.

  • Check and report on, and where possible, take corrective action, for unsafe and unsecure conditions, threats and vulnerabilities using their senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste) and various equipment provided by DARPA.

  • Respond to incidents and emergencies and take appropriate action, to include response to alarm conditions such as SCIF and duress alarms. In relation to the alarm response, the contractor shall perform periodic evaluations (not less than once per month per shift) of the response to potential alarm events. The evaluations will be in a written format that is prescribed by the Government and will be provided to the Government for review.

  • Support DARPA’s COOP and Pandemic Plan as required.

  • Call for emergency services when necessary or in accordance with DARPA procedures and guiding emergency responders to the scene of an incident.

  • Take accurate and complete notes and document their activities and incidents by writing detailed reports and journals; and

  • Report their activities and any incidents to the Government in a timely manner and as directed by the Government.

Required Skills and Experience for this position:

  • Must have the ability to: provide clear, concise, and accurate written and verbal reports.

  • Administer safety screenings of employees and visitors.

  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds from place to place.

  • Walk up and down stairs.

  • Work in inclement weather and outdoor environment.

  • Stand in one place for extended periods.

  • Using the five senses (sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch), detect and report security and safety violations that are learned through experience and training.

  • Work any shift (day, evening, or early morning) on all days of the week and holidays.

  • Successfully complete the training required by this contract, as demonstrated through written and practical examination.

  • Travel by land, water or air transport means to any location within the United States and remain on site for an extended time in support of DARPA operations.

  • Minimum of one (1) year performing similar security officer duties in a DoD environment.

  • Secret with ability to obtain a Top Secret, with eligibility for SAP and SCI access. Top Secret clearance process must begin within one (1) month of working onsite.

  • High school diploma.

  • Shall have successful completion of the requirements for Preventing Disease Transmission (i.e., blood-borne pathogens); successful completion of all training required by the contract.

  • Certified in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) First Responder – Awareness Level and certified to use and operate X-Ray and Magnetometer devices.

  • Qualified and certified (licensed) as an Unarmed Security Officers in accordance with the laws and regulations of the State of Virginia.

  • In good general health without physical impairments which would interfere with the performance of duties, including prolonged walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, moving rapidly to respond to various situations.

Required Skills and Experience for work at DARPA on this contract:

  • Be a US Citizen

  • Be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate SID and DARPA needs.

  • Be able to travel and perform work at other geographical locations.

  • Have the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work activities.

  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language and have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Have the ability to accurately and completely prepare and maintain files, records, and reports and to convey factual information.

  • Have the ability to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently.

  • Have the ability to remain calm in emergency situations.

  • Have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions with limited supervision.

  • Have skill in reading, writing, basic math, document composition, and analytical problem solving; and

  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of employment on the contract.

  • Fluent in the written and spoken English language and shall have strong written and oral communication skills.

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
