At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. Our Global Procurement team is growing and we are hiring a Head of NA Construction Professional Services

This role will partner closely with Pre-Construction, Design and Construction, World Wide Real-Estate, and World Wide Design stakeholders to define long term procurement strategies to support the delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-million, multi-year Ops construction projects. The Construction Professional Services category covers the design, engineering and supervision requirements delivered alongside the Construction scope.

This role will be part of an exciting, fast moving and growing team. The right candidate for this role will be a self-starter with dedication to seeing projects through to the end. You must be able to work independently in a collaborative, creative, ever-changing and ambiguous environment. You will have an eye for detail and determination to standardize processes and turn-over high-quality work. This position involves direct contact with both internal and external stakeholders, and the candidate must have an ability to communicate effectively with business partners at every level, including upper management to inform decision making.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead the Construction Professional Services category owning the delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-million-dollar sites.

  • Identify, develop and deliver long term sourcing strategies, lead key initiatives with cross-functional teams; drive the decision-making process of the category roadmap with senior leadership.

  • Build alignment with internal and external stakeholders to effectively plan and deliver site launches to meet site construction programs

  • Own the targets and goals identified across the Professional Services category scope as well as identifying and delivering incremental process and system improvements

  • Drive professional services sourcing, award, contracting and ongoing support until project delivery, while maintaining commercial relationships with suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving optimal cost and performance;

  • Lead supplier performance management; including improving sustainability & social responsibility;

  • You will deliver market leading low-cost, innovative and sustainable services to help our Operations teams succeed and delight Amazon.com customers with speed, selection and convenience

  • You will collaborate to seek inputs and manage outputs from our external suppliers as well as internal partners across Design & Operations, Workplace Health & Safety and Finance

  • You may have to adapt and sometimes take different roles from strategy development to project management to rapidly meet customer needs

  • You will focus on deep diving categories to unlock value and help deploy emerging technologies at scale for Operations

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Commercial or equivalent.

  • 10+ years of related procurement souring and construction management experience of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plants.

  • 10+ years of experience directly managing, mentoring, leading, and coaching procurement professionals.

  • 10+ years of experience in construction procurement activities such as strategic sourcing, contracting site due diligence, design management and procurement strategy development.

  • 10+ years of experience of General contractor and vendor management experience (request for proposals, bidding, contracting, change orders) associated with construction and project execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience directly related to the procurement of design and construction scope across complex warehousing/critical infrastructure or large scale mechanical and electrical plants.

  • Experience working on construction projects across EMEA region.

  • Experience with large scale technical operations, mission-critical mechanical/electrical infrastructure, or large-scale manufacturing/operational sites.

  • Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.

  • Certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).

  • Possess clear English written and verbal communication skills and ability to use data to justify conclusions.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $233,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
