Amazon Senior Trade Compliance Program Manager, Global Trade Services in Arlington, Virginia

Description

Global Trade Services (GTS) is looking for an experienced Trade Compliance Solutions Manager who will deliver global risk management solutions for customs valuation compliance.

In this role, you will be part of a new team responsible for the development of the strategies, policies, processes, tools and solutions that anchors our customs valuation risk management programs and will be a key enabler for myriad cross border programs . You will work closely with different functions including legal, logistics and supply chain, accounting, finance, transfer pricing, business, and Product and Technology teams to continuously improve our customs valuation risk management capability.

The ideal candidate would be a self starter with a subject matter expertise of trade regulations, particularly on customs valuation and experience with customs operations with a strong track record of delivering projects that involves coordination across different functions (e.g. tax, business, supply chain, tech)

Key job responsibilities

-Set objectives, and drive improvements to your space that you quantify with metrics.

-Partner with stakeholders including trade, legal, tax, and finance and accounting to drive development of customs valuation-related policies, processes and solutions.

-Build flexible and scalable solutions across various customized technologies, business models/supply chain arcs, and country regulatory regimes.

-Stay informed on regulations and technologies relevant to your space and bring them into your risk management programs.

-Drive alignment by providing near and long term considerations and impacts, and highlight recommended trade-offs and priorities.

-Work with business intelligence engineers and technology teams to design, build and track key performance indicators and systems.

-Communicate risks, proposals, regulatory updates and strategies to internal and external stakeholders in meetings and documents.

A day in the life

You reviewed your notes from yesterday's meeting with the Amazon Devices team on their launch plan for UAE to prepare for the meeting with the local Trade Manager to discuss the customs valuation risk for the launch. Demonstrating your high judgment and subject matter expertise, you identified a solution gap when assessing the operating plan for the UAE launch which you want to include in the Quarterly Business Review (QBR) document you are authoring. You captured a similar use case for a Physical Store launch in UK and want to advocate for resources to develop a global solution for the emerging risk.

About the team

This position reports to the Senior Manager of Valuation Governance in the Global Trade Services (GTS) function. GTS is responsible for providing global trade and product compliance support for Amazon businesses, creating efficient processes that meet demanding cross border regulations, while minimizing impact to the business.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification

  • Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent

  • Master's degree or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
