Amazon Senior Financial Analyst, Luna Cloud Gaming in Arlington, Virginia

Description

The Amazon Luna team is leveraging the power of the cloud to enable customers to experience the rich and immersive world of gaming on all of their existing devices. Luna represents an exciting and truly new product and business, with a high degree of innovation, and an opportunity to reach a large volume of passionate customers.

Luna Finance seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to support the Luna business through financial reporting, financial modeling, controllership, and decision making. You will collaborate with multiple business stakeholders to provide timely analysis and insightful guidance. The Luna business is still young and growing rapidly, creating high levels of ambiguity in our financials as well as opportunities to define key metrics and to own and create new reporting/mechanisms to steer the business.

Key job responsibilities

  • Identifies basic control risks, evaluates impact, proposes changes, and implements improvements to remediate gaps

  • Delivers monthly financial close. Uses financial systems and advanced Excel functions to work with large data sets. Outputs plans, forecasts, budgets, and consolidations.

  • Works with a variety of data sources. Identifies incomplete or inaccurate data, identifies root causes of data issues, escalates discrepancies, fixes data where possible or partners to deliver a solution.

  • Uses active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjusts style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly.

  • Identifies and implements solutions to resolve, improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance processes.

  • Makes thoughtful time management decisions independently. Prioritizes work, resolves issues, meets deadlines, and seeks feedback from your manager. Discerns between urgent and non-urgent issues and acts accordingly to solve them.

  • Drives own self-development in the Finance Community: seeks opportunities to expand finance expertise. Participates in events, initiatives, and projects, then shares gained knowledge in and outside of your team.

  • Contributes to Finance community events or programs (e.g., professional development, work/life harmony)

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience

  • 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Ability to manage tight deadlines, prioritize workload and achieve effective results in a fast-paced, dynamic, ever-growing and often ambiguous environment; effective multi-tasking skills are vital

  • Demonstrated effective communication and presentation skills working with multiple peer groups and senior levels of management

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $56,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
