Senior Linux Administrator

As a Senior Linux SME, you will be supporting multiple build and operations managed service provider teams hosting Cloud based ERP services.

The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of SAP focused on security issues for the U.S. government so that SAP can bring technology and innovation to customers across government regulated industries.

The company is located in the DC Metro area, a 6-month contract-to-hire and will remain 100% remote.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years Linux Administration experience supporting production environments.

  • • Deep understanding of Linux networking

  • Must be able to obtain/maintain DoD Top Secret, CompTIA Sec+, and a Linux certification (e.g., LPIC-2 or RHCE) (required with 180 days)

  • Experience with configuring and troubleshooting Linux storage technologies, like logical volume manager (LVM), network file system (NFS), and Common Internet File System (CIFS)

  • Experience with System, including configuring custom services

  • Experience with Linux firewall technologies like firewall and iptables

  • Expert in Linux troubleshooting and debugging skills; have a passion for problem-solving and investigation

  • Expert with shell scripting (Bash or Korn)

  • Experience with integrating Linux with Active Directory using System Security Services Daemon (SSSD)

  • Experience with writing and using automation with frameworks like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet

  • Experience with Python or similar languages like Perl and Ruby with a focus on automation o Candidate would be expected to be proficient with Python within three months

  • Experienced with automated Linux patch management in an enterprise environment

  • Experience with reviewing Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) and Nessus ACAS output to determine the best corrective action

  • Experience implementing Linux OS hardening, auditing, and host level intrusion detection systems (IDS)

  • Highly skilled in identifying performance bottlenecks, identifying anomalous system behavior, and resolving root cause of service issues

  • Understanding of OS Virtualization and/or Cloud concepts

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines

  • Multitask with several customers, coworkers, and projects

  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure to deliver high-quality deliverables Preferred Skills, Characteristics, & Experience

  • Prefer Red Hat Certified Engineer (CE) certification

  • Working knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guidelines STIGs (Preferred)

  • Experience with managing large numbers of Linux hosts

  • Experience with change control procedures related to altering customer systems in an enterprise environment

  • Integration with LDAP (Windows and/or UNIX based)

  • Hand-on experience using AWS SSM for Configuration/Patch Management

  • Experience using and configuring Tripwire or Advanced Intrusion Detection Environment (AIDE)

  • Experience with Splunk configuration and installation
