ICF International Chemistry Researcher (May 2025 Grad, Hybrid) in Arlington, Virginia

Description

ICF is seeking an International Chemistry Researcher to support our chemicals and engineering workstreams for domestic and international efforts. You will be responsible for supporting ICF managers in winning, planning, and executing projects. You will be expected to work as part of 2 to 7 person teams to execute tasks related to the development and delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality products and services. You are likely to work on multiple projects, interact with all levels of staff, and have some client interaction. At ICF, you have an opportunity to apply your academic knowledge, gain exposure to major projects, and interact with experts and clients in the field, while also building content knowledge and consulting skills.

As a member of ICF’s team, you will focus on projects that utilize knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry, environmental best practices, and engineering controls. Every day you will be working towards creating a sustainable future with opportunities for all; transferring technology and best practices; alleviating emissions and managing lifecycle challenges. Ideal candidates will have technical knowledge, good writing skills, and a desire to engage with clients.

This is a full-time position expected to begin Summer 2025. Work will be performed from our Crystal City, VA (Arlington; preferred) or New York, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Quantitative problem-solving; data collection, modeling, and analysis; and manipulation of large datasets.

  • Technical writing.

  • Reviewing literature and performing research.

  • Interacting with clients.

  • Preparing presentations, reports, memoranda, and other communication materials.

  • Working with teams to prepare high-quality materials to support clients.

  • Completing tasks in a fast-paced and self-motivated environment and in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Reporting to project managers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering, or related field by May 2025 .

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Familiarity and proven work experience with chemistry, non-CO2 greenhouse gases, and inventory development (please highlight such in resume).

  • Familiarity with best management practices for safe handling of chemicals, including HFCs, GHGs, and industrial chemicals.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel), Python, and Tableau.

  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience in climate- and sustainability-related areas.

  • Understanding of climate policies and programs and international regulations related to chemicals management.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$54,397.00 - $92,475.00
