Amentum Flight Test Engineer / Test Manager in Arlington, Virginia

Amentum is a leading provider of engineering, scientific, and program management support services to some of the top agencies in the U.S. government, including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), NASA, and the Department of Homeland Security and the intelligence community.

Amentum is currently seeking talented, enthusiastic, and dynamic individuals to support DARPA in formulating, monitoring, and transitioning advanced research and development programs to the U.S. military. Amentum is actively involved in DARPA’s Tactical Technology, Strategic Technology, Defense Sciences and Information Processing Techniques Offices. Amentum is currently looking for a qualified flight test engineer / test manager to provide technical and programmatic oversight of various research and development projects for DARPA.

Candidates will work closely with DARPA Program Managers as well as high level personnel throughout the government and also with industry research and development communities. Applicants must be technically strong and possess superior oral and written communications skills. Candidates should be self-starters capable of working both independently and as part of a team. 25% travel duty time is required.

Technical and management responsibilities may include:

  • Providing technical support and subject matter expertise in monitoring the execution of advanced technology development and demonstration programs.

  • Performing independent technical assessments and feasibility analyses of new technologies and system designs.

  • Planning, managing, attending, monitoring, and reporting on system flight and ground testing and demonstrations.

  • Supporting technical interchange meetings and design reviews.

  • Identifying and implementing new program concepts.

  • Providing program management and acquisition support.

  • Authoring program status briefings and technical reports.

Required qualifications: Technical Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum of a B.S. in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics with at least 8 years of flight test experience or an M.S. degree with 6 years of flight test experience or 20 years of experience in flight test domain with a Bachelor of Arts.

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance.

  • Platform concept development, requirements definition, and program support experience.

  • Test Program Management experience including planning, execution, and reporting.

  • Ground and flight Test Conductor experience.

  • Unique or non-standard flight test experience.

  • Desired Qualifications:

  • An active Secret clearance.

  • Graduate from a Service or private Test Pilot School is preferred.
