Job Description

Purpose & Scope:

The Emerging Technology and Innovations Informaticist is a strategic and operational role responsible for identifying, evaluating, implementing, and managing innovative technologies that enhance clinical, operational, and administrative functions within VHC Health. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare informatics, emerging technologies, and the ability to drive innovation through data-driven decision-making and interdisciplinary collaboration.

This role reports to the Director of Clinical Applications and will involve collaborating with all levels of IS and hospital leadership. The Emerging Tech & Innovations Informaticist role involves assessing, evaluating, implementing and managing emerging technologies in the healthcare setting. This position will evaluate cutting edge technology for feasibility at VHC health and bring solutions to hospital leadership for evaluation. The evaluation will be between all IS departments, clinical staff, clinical leaders and vendors. This position will manage projects thru the life cycle, including ongoing maintenance on the systems.

This role requires a strong background in healthcare workflow, organization and attention to detail. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating and coordinating IT projects within the clinical healthcare domain, ensuring seamless collaboration between various stakeholders and timely delivery of technology solutions.

Formulates system scope and design objectives through analysis and research to configure vendor maintained systems or develop or modify in house systems. This individual must have broad knowledge of application integration and data flow, as well as extensive experience in the on-site installation and support of EMR applications. As part of the project implementation team, this individual will provide expert and creative solutions to user requirements and problems. Takes the initiative to research, resolve and respond to inquiries during the deployment and ongoing maintenance/support phases of the program. This position requires knowledge of processes and workflows common in inpatient and ambulatory settings, in addition to advanced computer skills. Requires EMR implementation experience

Education:

Bachelor's Degree is required. Preferred degree in: Health Care Administration, Clinical Information Systems, Informatics, Information Technology, or Sciences.

Four (4) years equivalent experience may be approved to be accepted in lieu of bachelor's degree.

Graduate degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • Four (4) years’ experience in IT and/or EHR systems as a project manager, clinical analyst, business analyst, or systems analyst required. This includes designing, configuring, training, implementing, and supporting clinical systems applications.

  • Experience supporting clinical systems, with design, build and validate experience preferred.

  • Proven project management experience, both leading and participating on project teams, from initiation through successful implementation and acceptance of application changes.

Other Qualifications

  • Healthcare operations background is desirable. Solid knowledge of operational healthcare hospital workflows required including clinical and business workflow analysis for development of electronic solutions within assigned applications.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders

  • Must possess strong communication and organization skills.

  • Excellent analysis, problem solving, organization and trouble-shooting skills

  • Proficiency in data analytics tools, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and other relevant technologies.

  • Good communication skills in technical and non-technical vernacular

  • Core competencies include the ability to communicate effectively, work as an independent professional, be self-motivated, and work effectively in a team setting to facilitate timely and successful systems deployment and program execution

    Certification/Licensure:

PMP - strongly preferred

Advanced certification (Nursing Informatics, and/or CAHIMS, CPHIMS) preferred.
