Koniag Professional Services, a Koniag Government Services company is seeking a Cloud Architect Lead with a Public Trust Moderate Risk Clearance to Support KPS and our government customer in Arlington, VA.

Koniag Professional Services is looking for a professional Cloud Architect Lead to be part of a team that will be charged with meeting or exceeding the needs of a government client. The Cloud Architect Lead will have overall responsibility over the engineering task. Additional support will include DevSecOps pipeline development, performance monitoring / configuration, billing / usage of cloud resources, and migration between cloud environments.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate in technical project review meetings to ensure technical designs meet the client’s operational requirements and infrastructure/security standards.

  • Provision and maintain cloud resources for an enterprise cloud environment (network, storage, compute)

  • Automate infrastructure migrations to cloud environments and identify on-premises technologies and their cloud counterparts.

  • Ensure compliance with incidents, problems, and change management procedures and execute ticket-based requests with little or no additional help.

  • Focus on results and be delivery oriented, with a keen interest in quality and the ability to meet deadlines.

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Technical proficiency designing and implementing Cloud-based AWS solutions.

  • Experience applying The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) in Agile solution designs to minimize technical debt and improve overall velocity.

  • Experience with software design and development, systems operations / management; database architecture, storage, and IT security

  • Experience with DevSecOps pipeline tools including configuration management, requirements (e.g. JIRA), automated testing, and deployment.

  • Proficient in network communication protocols, ports, routing, proxy settings, and firewall policies

  • Experience designing solutions compliant with the Federal Information Management Security Act (FISMA) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Security Standards and Security Requirements

  • Experience with Message Services, such as development of Apache ActiveMQ services, MuleSoft and/or Apache Camel

  • Experience with microservices / container architectures (e.g. OpenShift, Kubernetes), orchestration and automation

  • Proven ability to develop root cause analysis, problem identification and resolution, and roadmap for problems within system design and implementation of existing and new systems.

  • Technical proficiency in optimizing system performance and resource utilization through log and monitoring analysis.

  • Experience with Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools, such as AppDynamics and/or NewRelic

  • Experience with designing and implementing Cloud-based hosting solutions, as well as Cloud-based backup and recovery, including failover zones.

  • Familiar with best practices in billing and accounting with AWS to minimize oversubscription of services.

  • Must exhibit critical soft skills including:

  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.

  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of stakeholders.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree with eight (8) or more years of relevant experience in an Enterprise IT environment

  • Certifications must be achieved within three (3) months after contract award:

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
