Are you passionate about defense policy and legislative analysis? The Red Gate Group is seeking an API Acquisition Legislative & Audit Lead to join our team supporting the Acquisition Policy & Innovation (API) Directorate within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition and Sustainment) (OUSD(A&S)).

In this role, you will be responsible for continuous analysis of congressional activities impacting API programs and policies, providing critical evaluations of bills, legislation, and report language that affect API equities, acquisition programs, and policies. You will track congressional bills, acts, hearings, and other activities, focusing on defense appropriations and authorization bills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of reports to Congress, the Government Accountability Office (GAO), and Inspector General (IG) offices by monitoring and updating tracking tools.

  • Providing timely summaries of congressional information from public sources such as Committee websites, Defense News,™ the Early Bird, Politico,™ and The Hill™, and conferees, preparing comprehensive comparisons of legislation impacting defense acquisition, and tracking acquisition-related changes in proposed legislation.

  • Delivering weekly Legislative Updates summarizing congressional activities whenever Congress is in session, maintaining transcripts of Congressional hearings, and supporting API engagements with congressional staff.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

  • Defense Executive-Level Legislative and Audit Experience

  • Able to effectively brief Flag Officers, General Officers, Senior Executive Service members

  • At least two years experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Explorer, Edge, SharePoint, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat Professional

  • At least two years experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Explorer, Edge, SharePoint, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat Professional

Desired Skills

  • Experience with CATMS, CHARRTS, and GLADIS is highly desired
