Amazon ADC Engineer, ADC Region Services Operations (RSO); Keystone Team in Arlington, Virginia

Description

The AWS Region Services Operations (RSO) team is looking for a talented DevOps/System Development Engineer to join our energetic, fast-moving, and passionate team. Our mission is to ensure the high availability of Amazon’s dedicated cloud used by US Government Intelligence and Defense agencies.

We are looking for a ADC / System Development Engineer to own automating operational and business practices. This will include identifying and resolving issues, automating and improving repetitive processes, and working closely with development teams, operational teams, and our customers/partners. You will drive prioritization of operational issues, development programs, and drive automation design and scaling requirements to support our dedicated cloud environments.

This role will sit in our new headquarters in Northern Virginia, where Amazon will invest $2.5 billion dollars, occupy 4 million square feet of energy efficient office space, and create at least 25,000 new full-time jobs. This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active Top Secret or TS/SCI security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities

  • Contribute in debugging, troubleshooting complete stack of a service and drive analysis of an outage; write software and build automation to resolve problems permanently

  • Engage in service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning.

  • Review and influence ongoing design, architecture, standards and methods for operating services and systems; assess design and code changes to drive improvements

  • Build business continuity and disaster recovery systems.

  • Capable of and experience with technical deep-dives into service design, operating systems, networking, storage, monitoring, and capacity planning.

About the team

As an ADC Engineer within Region Services Operations, you will take one of our most senior leadership roles in the support of the critical workloads of US Government Intelligence and Defense agencies. In this role you will be a technical leader and an evangelist, working with and leading cross-functional teams for broad outcomes and solve significantly complex business or architectural problems.

Our work is primarily strategic, and may include time spent on systems design, architecture, software development, or process improvement. You must be an outstanding practitioner of resilience engineering who defines the standards for engineering best practices and operational excellence.

Basic Qualifications

  • Cloud+ or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials) or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner)

  • 3+ years of systems administration experience (Linux/Windows).

  • Experience working with scripting languages (Bash, Shell, Python, etc....

  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience with cloud computing technologies.

  • 3+ years of networking experience.

  • 3+ years of experience with support procedures and methodologies for production computing environments.

  • Experience automating routine tasks.

  • Experience troubleshooting production systems.

  • Experience with performance and log analysis.
