D.R. Horton, Inc.is currently looking for a_Cook_for their corporate Cafe. The right candidate will prepare food in accordance with applicable federal, state, local, and company standards, guidelines and regulations with established policies and procedures. Ensures quality food service is provided at all times. Assists with catering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery, and service schedules
  • Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlines standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty. Tastes all prepared food items
  • Uses established ticket collection procedures during service. Responsible for records from area worked during service periods
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standard of cleanliness. Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
  • Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. Ensures food and supply items are stored per standards
  • Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • Supports an excellent dining experience for all guests
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
  • Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor immediately
  • Attends in-service and safety meetings
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, and managers
  • Assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required
  • Assists in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Ability to work overtime

Education and/or Experience * Minimum of 3 years’ experience as Cook, preferably in a large, fast-paced kitchen * ServSafe Certification * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications * Proficiency with MS Office and email * Ability to stand and walk for the majority of 8-hour workdays; ability to lift and carry 30 pounds; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision * The noise level is generally moderate
