Description

This is an entry-level position designed to lead to full-time Union employment. Operations Trainees, usually referred to as Casuals," are helpers assigned to the delivery and warehouse teams. Success as an Operations Trainee can lead to well-paid work opportunities through Union positions that may become available. If you do not currently have a career and are tired of just having a job that is going nowhere, this could be the right opportunity for you!

Operations Trainees are trained to handle warehouse and delivery tasks and are utilized on an as-needed basis with flexible scheduling that often (but not always) includes five and sometimes six workdays per week.

Our internal training process is designed with the goal of transitioning Operations Trainees to full-time Union Driver or Assistant Driver positions. Operations Trainees who are successful in this role and identified as good candidates for a Union Driver or Assistant Driver position will be trained by the company to obtain their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).Possession of a CDL-Permit upon hire is a plus.

Wages and benefits for Operations Trainees, or Casuals," are paid in accordance with the Union Local No. 703 IBT contract and the Chicago Beer Wholesalers Association.

Qualifications

Successful Operations Trainee candidates will possess the following:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate

  • Good driving record with few or no violations

  • Ability to work varied shifts as needed

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to work in varying temperatures under varying weather conditions

  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, including lifting up to 60 pounds repetitiously

  • Other duties as assigned

A valid Class A CDL or the willingness to obtain one is desired.
