BorgWarner Inc. Welder - Grade C - Line 15 3rd Shift (1566) in Arden, North Carolina

BASIC FUNCTION:

To effectively weld repair Reman products consisting of cast iron, aluminum, and steel. Metal fabrication skills are also a requirement. Welding processes will consist of grinding, Magnetic Particle Imaging, press operations, and knowledge of mechanical assembly operations. Knowledge of Tig, Mig, Arc and Oxy Acetylene welding are required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Weld crack repair cast iron Turbine Housings.

  • Inspect, identify and remove cracks by means of hand grinding.

  • Assemble, calibrate and weld waste-gate actuators.

  • Turbine Housing bolt removal

  • Fabricate and weld for Reman facility projects.

  • Operate equipment to highest production and quality standards.

  • Make necessary adjustments as required.

  • Maintain equipment and report malfunctions and safety issues to supervisor or maintenance as soon as possible.

  • Transport material as required using proper handling methods.

  • Keep work area in orderly condition with respect to proper materials, tools, equipment, and personal belongings. (Includes cleaning of equipment, floors, tables, etc.)

  • Maintain quality standards by following proper inspection procedures.

  • Understand and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies.

  • Understand and adhere to current quality and control policies.

  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

  • Observe all safety/shop rules.

  • Attendance on the job is essential.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of high school or equivalent.

Licensed to operate forklift if applicable.

Two years experience in machining and assembly.

Welding certifications in cast iron welding or equivalent experience.

Uses hand tools and production equipment appropriate to the work performed.

Basic blueprint reading and SPC knowledge required.

Completion of technical training in welding is a requirement.

Must be able to follow instructions, safety rules and regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Job could require constant standing and walking the entire work shift.

May require lifting of 70-pounds during a scheduled shift.

May require pushing or pulling of manual pallet jacks or hand carts containing full baskets of cast iron parts.

May require climbing, stooping, bending, crouching, squatting, kneeling, reaching, good balance control and hand tasks.
