Eaton Corporation Project Manager - Power Systems Controls in Arden, North Carolina

Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services and Systems division is currently seeking a Project Manager for our Power Systems Controls team. This is a remote role for candidates currently residing within the Eastern or Central time zones of the United States.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $91,500 - $134,200 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you’ll do:

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management and execution of projects supporting the sales force, Power Systems Controls (PSC) Engineers, and Team Leaders during the entire project lifecycle to ensure a seamless transition from quote into execution. You will create clear and achievable cost, quality, and schedule objectives and follow these objectives through to successful completion. You will support the PSC Project Management Office in the development of tools and implementation of industry best practices for project management, project controls, and coordination. You will self-manage and direct a team on awarded projects, including service systems integration engineering and technical consultation for customers in the areas of system design, programming, installation, start up, maintenance, repair, training and modification of automated control systems and power management systems.

In this role, you will:

• Plan, establish, maintain, and regularly update a project schedule for assigned projects

• Coordinate with Team Leaders to assign engineering resources and provide performance feedback

• Monitor, control, forecast, and report costs on assigned projects within estimated project margin

• Prepare and present project status information for internal and external stakeholders

• Manage engineering response to customer emergencies and warranty issues

• Establish and manage contracts between Eaton and its customers & suppliers

• Support PSC Negotiation Application Engineers to develop proposals for new business

• Take initiative to develop new project management processes, standards, and tools

• Review customer specifications and bid documents, and issue change orders when necessary

• Assist with order-entry and hand-off to PSC engineers

• Contingency planning expertise and knowledge

• Ability to create, prioritize, and maintain project action item lists

• Technical coordination between internal team members, Eaton factories, third-party suppliers, and customers

• Document control and distribution to customers and suppliers

• Develop and deliver training material within areas of expertise

• Work evenings or weekends if necessary, to satisfy customers

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of 5 years of project management or project engineering experience OR a High School Diploma/GED or higher with a minimum of 10 years of field service, project management and/or proposal generation experience with electrical power distribution systems

• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

• Must reside within the Eastern or Central time zones of the continental United States. No relocation is being offered for this position.

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution

• PMP certified

• Minimum 5 years of experience with electrical power distribution systems, equipment, installation, and field services; particularly the implementation of automatic transfer schemes

Skills:

Position Criteria:

• Successfully complete and maintain compliance with Eaton’s safety programs and policies

• Periodically submit to drug/alcohol/background screens as required by customers for on-site work

• Expertise and experience with all project management competencies

• Focus on customer satisfaction with a track record of successful project execution experience

• Strong coordination, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Strong computer skills within the Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)

• Experience with Microsoft Project

• Basic understanding of power distribution systems, equipment, and automatic transfer schemes

• Experience with factory testing and field start-ups

• Troubleshooting skills to resolve field issues

• Experience developing technical proposals according to customer and internal requirements

• Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license
